I always been known to love a bargain. For example, TKMaxx is my ideal shop whereas it sends some people into a panic attack. Nothing better than a rummage and a discovery!
I've also always been interested in fashion, and notice what people are wearing in the street. For me that street could have been in a variety of different countries, and those countries always have a distinctive style. In some places the style is so boring and uniform, you could scream for a bit of colour. In others there is such a random mishmash of colours and patterns that you need sunglasses.
My rule of thumb is to keep it simple. Time and again I notice an awful outfit because it's practically doing a fanfare. So I avoid patterns like the plague. Stripes are pretty awful too. Apart from that, a very distinctive pattern runs the risk that someone else will have the same outfit, or recognise it's from a cheap shop. As I said, I'm all for a bargain, but I'd rather pretend it cost a fortune ;-)
